Brace yourself for one of the craziest, silliest, notorious (and most sought-after) underground monster movies of the 1970s. Something s fishy in the tiny Cypress Grove after a disgruntled ex-Nazi scientist emerges from his makeshift lab on the outskirts of town as a half-human, half-catfish monster and begins polluting the local waterways, creating a scary breed of amphibious mutants. The locals put a desperate call out to the Inter-Nations Phenomena Investigations Team (INPIT), whose special agents show up in a groovy RV, equipped with a six-wheeled dune buggy-like Amphicat. But will it be enough to handle the deranged creature and his army of deadly catfish? This late-night/drive-in classic sprang to life when a crew of industrial filmmakers at Barton Films in Florida decided to try their hand at producing a feature film. The decision to make a creature feature came when owner Don Barton concluded that this was the kind of film that could be produced on a tight budget and still get booked into theaters. Writers Ron Kivitt and Lee Larew came up with the kooky sci-fi/horror plot after reading an article in a wildlife magazine that warned of the environmental threat posed by a breed of walking catfish. A tragic end befell the film, however, when the distributor went bankrupt on the eve of its nationwide release. This left creature film fans scouring the underground for decades in search of rare bootleg copies (which by now existed under myriad titles, including Blood Waters of Dr. Z., Attack of the Swamp Creatures, Hydra and Legend of the Zaat Monster). This DVD represents ten years of work in bringing movie fans the ultimate collector s edition of this lost classic. Bonus features include: Original Movie Art Postcard, Origina 35mm Trailer, Before & After Restoration Demo, TV Spots & Outtake Footage, Radio Interview, Photo Gallery, Audio Commentary, and Spanish Subtitles.
