In late spring, 1890, Vincent van Gogh arrives in Auvers-sur-Oise, near Paris, to see a doctor who specializes in melancholia. Vincent moves into a cheap room at an inn and spends his time painting, arguing with his landlord, visiting a brothel, and spending time with Doctor Gachet and his family. The doctor has a beautiful daughter, Marguerite, who soon falls in love with the unkempt, volatile artist. Over the next two months, Vincent produces dozens of masterpieces, but his relationship with his brother Theo, his growing despair over his career, and his declining health push him toward a tragic end.
