A writer and a professor, along with their "pathfinder," the Stalker, set off on a railway handcar into a hermetically sealed, forbidden zone. There, they believe, lies a room where all wishes come true. The journey also becomes an inner voyage for those involved. - Andrei Tarkovsky's dystopian film was shot on the outskirts and surroundings of Tallinn, on the grounds of a power plant next to a chemical plant whose contaminated waste flowed into a lake, causing the water's surface to glow. Chernobyl seemed to cast its shadow here.
