Known for its beautiful cinematography and impressive, often brutal, action sequences, the SATAN’S SWORD TRILOGY is a meditation on violence and revenge, karma and spirituality.

For the first time on Blu-ray with english subtitles, The SATAN’S SWORD TRILOGY (Dai-bosatsu toge), also known as The Great Bodhisattva Pass Trilogy, is based on Kaizan Nakazatos unfinished long series of novels (41 books written from 1913 to 1941), directed by Kenji Misumi and Kazuo Mori.

Set in the last period of the Tokugawa Shogunate, SATAN’S SWORD tells the story of Tsuke Ryunosuke, a nihilistic swordmaster who doesn''t hesitate to kill anyone, bad or good.

Picking up in the aftermath of the first instalment, SATAN’S SWORD II: THE DRAGON GOD sees the decline and unraveling of Ryunosuke Tsukue and wider politics of 1860s Japan.

Disguised as a beggar monk, Ryunosuke is harassed along the road by the rowdy students malingering outside their fencing hall. SATAN’S SWORD III: THE FINAL CHAPTER is the final violent confrontation the trilogy has been building towards.

Directed by Kenji Misumi; Kazuo Mori

Starring Fujiko Yamamoto; Kôjirô Hongô; Raizô Ichikawa
