Batter up for Fear Strikes Out, the biopic sports drama which chronicles the rise of Red Sox player Jimmy Piersall from childhood sandlots to major league baseball.

Based on Piersall’s memoir of the same name, the great Anthony Perkins stars in this “absorbing” performance (New York Times) and powerful true story, which depicts his 17 seasons in the major leagues and the savaging effects mental illness had on his career.

Also starring Academy Award-winner Karl Malden (A Streetcar Named Desire), the unflinching tale was directed by Robert Mulligan (To Kill A Mockingbird), who was nominated for an award by the Directors Guild of America for his work on the film.
