Two of sci-fi/horror master Larry Buchanan's more famous works, ZONTAR, THING FROM VENUS and THE EYE CREATURES each exemplify the Texan director's knack for telling extraordinary stories on almost nonexistent budgets. Buchanan's films explored nuclear disasters, past lives, aliens, and more. The director often brought crowds to his films by casting known actors whose careers were settling down. Both films in this collection feed off the audience's fear of things alien and unknown. In the extremely low-budget ZONTAR: THE THING FROM VENUS (1966)--a remake of Roger Corman's IT CONQUERED THE WORLD--a well-meaning scientist (John Agar) aids a stranded alien and soon discovers the visitor's nefarious plans for world domination. In THE EYE CREATURES, icky aliens who invade Planet Earth meet their match in the American teenager generation. The latter film features Filipino horror-film leading man John Ashley.
