Saving Grace

Director Robert M. Young (Alambrista!, Caught, Dominick and Eugene) skillfully brings Celia Gittleson's novel to life in Saving Grace, a touching drama celebrated for its poignancy and comedic subtlety. Tom Conti (Oppenheimer, Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence, Reuben, Reuben) stars as the newly elected Pope Leo XIV, a down-to-earth man torn between the bureaucratic duties of his position and his longing to reconnect with real people one-on-one. When Leo accidentally locks himself out of the Vatican, he seizes the opportunity to flee for the Italian countryside, but trouble is not far behind. Edward James Olmos (Stand and Deliver, TV’s Battlestar Galactica, Blade Runner), Giancarlo Giannini (Quantum of Solace, Man on Fire, Love & Anarchy), Fernando Rey (The French Connection, Tristina, Viridiana), and Erland Josephson (The Sacrifice, Fanny and Alexander, Cries & Whispers) round out the supporting cast.
