The result is a tough revisionist Western about a cynical frontier marshal (Stewart) who teams with a cavalry officer (Richard Widmark) to rescue a group of long-held white captives from a band of redoubtable Comanche. Also starring Shirley Jones, Linda Cristal, Andy Devine, and John McIntire, and featuring a score by George Duning.
