Thana is a young, silent and reclusive woman in New York. During the day she works in a clothing tailor shop in Manhattan. One day on the way home she is raped by a masked stranger in a dark back alley. Disturbed and injured, she escapes home, where a burglar attacks her again. This time Thana is able to free herself from the man's brutal grip, overpower him and steal his weapon. The deeply shocking experiences gradually turn the shy, inconspicuous woman into a hateful revenge angel who specifically looks out for victims at night. A bloody trail soon runs through the streets of New York. Abel Ferrara's (THE DRILLER KILLER, KING OF NEW YORK, BODY SNATCHERS) earlier revenge thriller THE WOMAN WITH THE 45 MAGNUM is now one of the classics of New York underground film. Its fascinating leading actress and the uncompromisingly tough story make the film a gripping experience to this day.
