The siblings Leon and Ursula grew up in well-off circumstances. Her father is a wealthy university doctor and raises his offspring in a strictly authoritarian manner. While he otherwise has little time for the children due to his work, his wife takes care almost exclusively of the cleanliness and order in the household. Eventually the siblings become outsiders who have no friends except PIN. However, PIN is just a medical doll brought to life by her father through ventriloquism. Over many years, the children develop a very familiar relationship with the talking doll and confide many a secret to it. While Ursula, now 15, is slowly building up social contacts, Leon continues to live an outsider existence. For him, PIN remains the only friend from whom he does not want to break away under any circumstances. When his father notices that Leon's relationship with the doll is taking on pathological traits, he quickly decides to get rid of PIN. But then something terrible happens...
