The Christmas holidays have just started at the Calvin Finishing School for Girls. Almost everyone has already gone home or is on the way there. Only a group of five girls are still in school because they have nowhere else to go. A rather dull time seems to be getting in the way, but one of the girls' friends flies to the local airstrip and brings a bunch of friends with him, all of whom are in the mood to party. But what they don't know is that there is a maniac killer dressed as Santa Claus who is targeting the remaining residents.
TO ALL A GOODNIGHT is a 1980 American Christmas slasher (and arguably the first to feature a killer Santa) and also marks the directorial debut of David Hess, the villain Krug from Wes Craven's The Last House on the Left . The screenplay was penned by Alex Rebar, who played Steve West in Greetings from the Planet Saturn. Award-winning makeup artist Mark Shoshtrom (A Nightmare on Elm Street 3, Evil Dead II) was responsible for the numerous SFX. The choice of tools for the murders can certainly be described as creative and range from the ax to the airplane propeller (!)
