“Blast-Off," also known as “Those Fantastic Flying Fools,” is a comedy-adventure inspired by Jules Verne’s “From the Earth to the Moon.” Burl Ives (“Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”) stars as P.T. Barnum, the flamboyant American showman, who heads to England after his “Greatest Show on Earth” burns down. He meets explosives expert Siegfried Von Bulow (Gert Frobe, “Goldfinger”) who proposes the idea of sending a projectile to the moon using a powerful new explosive. Barnum initially scoffs at, then embraces the idea of such a journey.
